We've never found a way to directly turn off printing allocation reports when
not running auto-allocations (which we did for most of the years we've run SL). If you have auto-allocation turned on, then those batches don't print. We turned on auto-allocation about a year ago (finally) and only get those reports now when we re-run allocations in the Allocation Processor screen.
Prior to that, we coached the billing team, i.e. those tasked with running allocator) to set their printer to a file location we used to collect the allocation reports. They would go in and rename the allocator reports every time they ran it.
Please be aware that the default configuration for Allocator is that the data tables for printing the Allocation Audit reports (PA450A/PA450B) are cleared the next time that the allocation process is run. Those reports are the only way to trace how allocations are calculated, so if you have any sort of error in the allocation method - you don't have a way to look at how the allocation is calculated.
In our case, we created a custom SQL app that copies the PJALLSRT table contents to a custom archive table. We use extracts from that archive periodically in pivot tables to illustrate how the allocator calculates a given batch/project/etc. for troubleshooting purposes.
Hope this helps.
