1.  Shippers Not Creating in SL7

Posted 7 days ago
Hello, we're still on SL7 and recently added a little code to the SO screen which, when the SO Header Ship Date is changed, it copies this date down to the SOLine Est Ship Date and Date Promised.  The way we process orders, this was a big help.  But, now we're experiencing a sporadic issue of our Shippers not getting created.  When we check the creation log, it states like "Line 00001, schedule 00001 not requested to ship until 1/12/2018".  The date specified is inside our 3 day setting, so the Shipper should create.  We've compared the orders in SOHeader and SOLine with orders that did have the Shipper created and the only difference was the last update wasn't updated, since the dates weren't physically keyed in, but don't believe that has anything to do with our issues.  In test we removed the new code and the shipper still didn't create, so we're pretty sure it's not the new code.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what we should look at, we'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

It is the SOSched table that Process Mgr looks to for the Requested Dates to determine Shipper creation dates, along with the SOSched.TransitTime (which comes from the ShipVia), and the Picking Days from OM Setup.  I suspect that your code, while updating the SOLine table (there is no SOLine.EstShipDate field, so I assume you are referring to SOLine.ReqDate), did not also update the SOSched table, and those dates are still outside of your 3 day window.

The calculation to determine when PM will create a Shipper is as follows:
  • SOSched.ReqDate - SOSched.TransitTime - SOSetup.PickTime
  • Resulting date (if a weekend day, then the first previous business day) will populate the SOSched.ReqPickDate field

If you are not using the screens to modify the Requested Dates, then your code will probably need to perform these calculations and make the appropriate changes.

I have previously used a SQL UDF to calculate the Dates to make sure they land on a business day.

There is another record that you may need to update as well.  Look at the SOSched table.  There is at least one schedule record for every line item.
