loading report templates

Most of our employees can open a report (for example, the Project Transactions Report PA.150.00), make some changes to the Sort & Select Tabs to filter/sort the report, and save the modifications as a template so when they run the report in the future, they can just load the template instead of having to re-enter the modifications on the Sort & Select tabs again.  (See below for a screen shot of two templates we have created.)

However, we are finding that a handful of our employees cannot load and run these templates (even if they created them themselves).  They either get an ROI error message or just nothing happens and no report appears.  If they try to run the report without loading a template, it works fine.

We tried to compare permissions with the people who can and who cannot load the templates but they appear to be the same.  We did discover that changing an employee's permissions so they had full rights fixed the problem, however, we dont want to give our employees full rights.  So it feels like there must be a permissions setting that is different for the employees who can vs who cannot load templates but we cannot figure out what this setting is because they appear to have the same permissions under Administration.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

    Thank you!

I've seen those type of errors when an invalid printer has been saved with the template.  Try checking and changing the printer after loading the template and before viewing or printing the report.  If it works you can re-save the report without the printer setting and it should be resolved.

This can occur when a user saves the template with a local printer that only the original user can access, or if you have a network printer that gets replaced when a lease runs out.

    I hope this helps.

If not a printer issue could be a database permission issue to MSSystem.  The custom templates are located in the MSSystem database as opposed to the application database.

We solved the issue by selecting db_datareader in the SQL server for Database role membership under User Mapping.  I guess it was a SQL server permissions issue.  Works great for all our users now.  Thanks everyone!
