Dynamics SL 2018

We recently upgraded to SL 2018 CU3 - Professional Version 10.03.312190.01 (10.0.0.0) from Dynamics SL 2015 (not sure of the version).  We have a 3rd party web-time entry portal which our employees use to enter their timecards.  Recently I attempted to edit a timecard that had been uploaded into Advanced Payroll and the project I needed to enter showed the following error
    pr error
I spoke with our VAR, we went through several possible scenarios, compared the project maintenance setup with other projects we can successfully enter into payroll, we discovered that all the projects we have entered since the upgrade are not available to enter into payroll.  We can charge through AP, JE, PO, all other ways, but Advanced Payroll and Time and Dollar entry will not recognize these new projects.  Our VAR looked behind the scenes, checked what System Message 9 means, it says there is a required field missing....he can not immediately see anything that he believes could be causing this error.  Has anybody had this, or a similar issue?  Ideas?

    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Liz

    Elizabeth,

Not sure exactly what the custom time entry looks like but I would try entering a time card in the standard mode in payroll and see if the time card can be edited.
I am thinking that the custom web portal does not include all of the new fields when it is passing the data and the fields are missing data or simply not there.  These field definitions are in files named DH... in the Applications\DB\DH folder and should be used to match the custom applications to the traditional tables when passing data.

When we have seen something like this is when a value that is already in the data is no longer valid (due to default or values loaded from an outside application.).  The first look should be at any field that has an F3 look-up to validate that the data shown is indeed in the underlying lookup table.
More technical: there is probably a value that is not valid in a 'Look-up' level in the underlying programming.  These values are always validated when the program is loaded.  It is not fun, but checking all F3 look-ups in the screen may find the problem.

If it was working in SL2015, you can try to narrow your list by looking at the schema changes between 2015 and 2018; click the blue question mark in the upper right on the SL menu, then click 'Help Topics'

Scroll to the bottom and you should see 2015 to 2018 schema changes.  Look at the affected table and see what was added / changed. Make sure your 3rd party system is passing values for these new columns.

You guys are good!!  that is what our VAR did, and he did find a missing piece, he reproduced it in 2018, all the projects showed up in Advanced Payroll and Time and Dollar.

Thank you all for your good ideas!!
