We are debating upgrading from 2011 to 2018.  Have you had this upgrade and is it worth it?  How difficult was the upgrade process?  Lastly, what are your opinion in moving to the WebApps?  (We now use the BusinessPortal for timecard submissions.  Hoping the mobile app for this has improved since version 2012.  I wasn't too impressed with the tool by using the demo.)

    Thanks for your input.

We will upgrade to 2018 eventually.  Our 2015 upgrade was pretty easy.  You will see a number of improvements if you go from 2011 to 2018.

That said, Business Portal goes away with 2015/2018.  Web Apps was a struggle initially.  However, Web Apps is so much easier to use and it is continually being updated.  There is a large learning curve in setting up Web Apps.  Basically, there is additional security to set up just for Web Apps.   If you have any in-house tech gurus, Web Apps is customizable.  Reports are in SSRS format, so much easier to tweak or design than Crystal Reports.

Does everyone in our firm love Web Apps?  No.  Some of it is user error, but sometimes, I can't explain what happened.  We have a couple of customizations and that could be the root of the evil.  Does it happen frequently?  No.  Once per year or so is when some strange timecard entry shows up.  Web Apps is supposed to work on most browsers, but I stick with Chrome.  Seems to be most trust worthy.

Knowing what I know now, I would still move to Web Apps, but would have waited until this current version.

A test environment can be set up for Web Apps.  I highly recommend utilizing that until you pass out from too many timecard entries.  Test every scenario you can think of and then do it again.

    Good luck!
