    Good morning,

    We have been having issues with the subcontract maintenance CNSUB00 screen in our company for the past two days, when launched from menu, the screen looks like its loading up, then it just disappears from main screen, but shows up on the bottom as a open window in the task bar but we cannot physically see it. We have to right click on the open window in task bar, then click maximize then it will show up and load. If we decide to click minimize, then it will disappear and hide again.. but in maximize mode, if it take the top bar and move it around, it will minimize correctly. We have to maximize upon each CNSUB00 launch, the temp fix does not stay. This is only happening to certain users on certain machines. If user A is having this problem but user B is not, if B logs into user A's machine and tries, they then have this issue and vice versa. There are no self customizations set in customVBA table in sys. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

    Hi Valerie,

    Back in my consulting days, I found with issue like this that the fonts on 1 machine were way bigger than another.  The person had the fonts blown up to see the screen.  By dialing back the Windows fonts fixed the issue.

    I'm not sure that is what is going on, but I'd try that to see if it fixes your issue.

    Hi Michael,

    Thank you for your feedback. The fonts are set to minimal size so that is not the issue. I still can't get it to work... it is only that one screen is having issues and it is random on who it does not work for. Any other suggestions?

    If it's only happening to certain users on certain machines, try deleting the APC folder within C:\Users\{UserID}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Dynamics SL for the affected users.  

    Another thing to try is disabling customization on the screen.  Sounds like there is ALL User level customization which may have been corrupted...

    If it's confirmed to be customization related, but the issue doesn't affect enough users to warrant a re-do of the customization, you can add the following to the solomon.ini on the server and see if it helps.

    We tried to delete the APC folder & tried adding the customizations code but that did not work either.

    We have seen this before and it was typically related to the display resolution on the users workstation.  Also seen this in RDP connections when the display connection locally did not sync with the terminal server.@

    I have seen this before.

    This happens as a result of the screen being opened in an area of a screen that is no longer valid.

     

    Here is the only way I know of to resolve.

     

    When the screen opens and minimizes do the following:

     

    1. After it opens and minimizes, simply click once on the icon in the tool bar at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Immediately hit the alt and spacebar at the same time
    3. Hit the letter "m"
    4. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard move the non-visible screen to be visible on screen
    5. Immediately left click the mouse and drag the non-visible screen so that you can see it.
    6. From that point on it should open where you leave it. (until you move it somewhere else)

     

    What this does is the same as if a window is visible using menus to move the screen to an onscreen position.

    As soon as you move it using the keyboard you can take over the positioning with the mouse.

    Hi Ed,

    Wow, ok so the screen is going off to the left of the visible window, and when we move it using arrows, it comes back onto visible screen but the settings are not saving when we click off of it or if we press enter. It just reverts every time we close the screen & re-launch. Do you know how we can save the location permanently?

    I am not in front of a windows computer at the moment, but if I recall correctly, once you have it visible on the screen, simply move the mouse and the screen will follow.

    Put it where you want and click the mouse again.

    Thanks Ed, we found that the customization file for that screen was corrupted, and the LEFT number for placement was extremely large. Once we fixed it, it shows up correctly now. Thank you all!
